Tilt-Up Construction Makes a Comeback with Orlando Houses
Tilt-up construction is the “technique of casting reinforced concrete panels on-site and then tilting the panels into position.” This method of constructing homes dates all the way back to the Romans, yet it´s starting to gain new popularity with builders constructing Orlando houses.
The two primary reasons for the renewed interest in the tilt-up construction of Orlando houses is that it´s more economical and speeds up construction. “Pouring concrete onsite circumvents having to transport heavy walls,” and the time it takes to build a home´s shell is between eight to ten weeks.
Orlando houses constructed in the tilt-up manner are also very durable, with most “older buildings, even those from the 1940s,” showing “few signs of age.” The construction´s durability means that maintenance costs stay low. “About the only thing that needs to be done is a new coat of paint every six to eight years.”
In the end, tilt-up Orlando houses may also be safer, as concrete is fire resistant. This fact could result in lower insurance premiums.
