Orlando Properties Draw Upscale Hotel Chains
The number of hotels to open nationwide in 2007 is expected to surpass the number opened in 2001, with an estimated 917 new hotels and 100,559 guest rooms. Orlando and other tourist destinations are the primary areas of this new development.
Hotel developers are largely purchasing old Orlando properties with prime locations to demolish them and begin hotel construction. Other valuable Orlando properties are those with locations along highways in the outer suburbs.
Developers are interested in constructing hotels “mostly in the upscale, midscale and economy segments.” The leading upscale brands that are shopping for Orlando properties include Marriott’s Courtyard, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, Homewood Suites and Hilton’s Garden Inn.
